Final Digipak Design:

Here is the final design for the digipak for ATWI - Here Again. I have changed the back cover to have the band members and the band's websites as some people asked for feedback suggested that it would be a better place than the inside... I have also added more doodles above the text as some people felt that the empty space needed filling. As well as this, I have made the text on the front bolder so as to make it stand out more.

This is the final design for the inside of the digipak. I have chosen not to use the doodles that were on the back of the previous design as some people asked in the feedback stage said they did not seem appropriate... I have used the doodle of the dead bunny to make a pattern across the left side, I feel it is more fitting with the rest of the design.

I have decided to have the digipak made out of recycled card, with as little plastic as possible to hold the CD in place. I have done this to encourage environmentally friendly people to purchase the product, which coincides with the fact that extra material has been saved by not including a whole booklet for the lyrics.

Audience Feedback for Digipak Designs...

I printed out both designs for the digipak for And The Winner Is... - Here Again and made them into mini digipaks in order to make sure people would know what it would look like for real as it is difficult to visualise it when it is just a picture... I also printed out a questionnaire with these questions...

  • Do you think that the pictures chosen for the front and back covers are appropriate?
For the first design (the one with the pictures of the band in a cornfield), in general people thought that the pictures fitted well with the band's name, as it kind of portrays them as winners with the sun behind them.

For the second design (the one with the doodles) people generally liked the design on the front, but many people thought that the doodles on the back cover did not really suit the band or genre and some felt that they did not fit in with the rest of the doodles...
  • Do you like the font used?
For both designs, people liked the chosen font, however some people did comment that the text on the second design (doodles) should be bolder so it would stand out more against the drawings.
  • Do you like the design on the CD itself?
Both designs got good feedback for this question... For the fist design, people liked the fact that the picture on the CD of the band throwing the lead singer in the air again portrays them as 'winners'
  • Do you think that the lyrics should be in a separate pull out booklet or do you think the position they are in now is fine?
For both digipak designs, people thought that the position of the lyrics is fine and a pull out booklet would not be necessary as it is only a single so it would just be a waste of paper...
  • Can you tell the band's genre from the digipak design?
For both designs, most people managed to guess that the band's genre was alternative rock, this means that people will be easily able to recognise the genre if they saw the CD on sale in a shop...
  • Any other comments about the design?
Generally, people just said how they liked both designs, there were comments about how people thought that the doodles on the back did not seem like they fitted with the other doodles...
  • Which is your favourite?
Exactly half of people liked each design, which was not very useful for me as I like both designs so had real difficulty choosing which to use as my final design. I have decided to go with the design with the doodles, but I am going to make some changes based on the feedback received for it...
